Virginia
League of Conservation Voters
Education Fund
The
Virginia League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (VALCV-EF)
was established in 2001 to help citizens and organizations concerned
with conservation and Virginia's environment. VALCV-EF helps citizens
to more effectively participate in government and policy development.
VALCV-EF
Programs
I. Citizen Education
VALCVEF
undertakes a number of activities aimed at improving the public's
understanding of environmental and conservation issues. VALCV-EF
offers training seminars to conservation organizations throughout
the state, connecting the issues with decision-making by elected
officials.

II. Public Policy Advocacy
VALCV-EF serves as a clearinghouse to communicate the positions
of Virginia's entire conservation community. We work with local
conservation organizations to craft and deliver effective messages
for their local governing bodies, the media and the public. VALCV-EF
also manages the CAV Alert Network, helping citizens voice their
concerns to Virginia's state decision-makers via e-mail action alerts
(CAV Alerts).

III. Voter Participation
VALCV-EF educates voters about state and local environmental
issues and encourages participation in Virginia's democratic process.
VALCV-EF provides information to citizens regarding voter registration
and obtaining absentee ballots. VALCV-EF also sends direct mail
and electronic communications to the public to encourage citizens
to "Vote Environment."
