ABOUT VALCVEF
Who Are We?
The Virginia League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (VALCV-EF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was established in 2001 to help environmental organizations and citizens concerned with conservation to become active and effective participants in government and policy development at the local, state and regional levels. Working under the founding premise that protection of the Commonwealth’s natural resources requires an integrated strategy involving coordination between all levels of public involvement, VALCV-EF provides a critical link between Virginia’s conservation organizations, their regional and state-level umbrella groups, and the voting population that supports them.
What Do We Do?
I. Citizen and Conservation Education
VALCV-EF undertakes a number of activities aimed at improving the public’s understanding of environmental and conservation issues along with how to affect change in these areas. VALCV-EF offers training seminars to conservation organizations and citizens throughout the state that seek to connect the issues with decision-making by elected officials.
Additionally, VALCV-EF organizes a periodic Educating the Decision Makers program designed to educate elected officials on basic environmental problems and policy solutions.

II. Public Policy Advocacy
VALCV-EF serves as the communicator of Virginia's conservation community “common agenda.” We work with conservation organizations to craft and deliver effective messages for the public, public officials and the media. VALCV-EF also manages a grassroots alert system, helping citizens voice their concerns to Virginia's state decision-makers at a moment’s notice.

III. Voter Participation
VALCV-EF educates voters about state and local environmental issues and encourages participation in Virginia's democratic process. VALCV-EF provides information to citizens about every step of the voting process (everything from registration, to polling place information and absentee ballots) and encourages them to get out and vote for conservation!
